FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – The Humane Society of Broward County is thrilled to host our first-ever men's golf tournament on Monday, April 8, 2013 on the South Course at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Said Faraj known for co-staring with Matt Damon in the "Green Zone" and other hit films like "Ghost" & "True Romance" along with 128 golfers will get together for 18-holes of fun, friendship and frustration (it is golf!) to benefit the shelter. Players will be trying to hit the Longest Drive to win a new PING® G20 driver; others will be sinking the Longest Putt and getting their ball Closest to the Pin to win other PING® clubs as well. All players have a chance to win, not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR Hole-In-One prizes. One hole is a prize bundle, iPad, iPod Nano, Callaway® irons & woods and a $750 VISA® Gift Card. Just 170 yards away is your chance for a golf vacation at Pebble Beach, $25,000 cash, or maybe.... a lease for on a BRAND NEW CAR!
After the golfers have grabbed their box-lunch and received instructions, the Scramble format will help them all stay competitive, regardless of their handicap. If you hit that wayward shot, no problem, Your Muttigan - Giving Pets a Second Shot, lets you do it over. Match your drive to the expert at the Drive Like a Pro, Par-5 hole #16. A long hitter can go for the green but watch out for the largest bunker on the course. For a donation, the Pro will drive off the tee for your foursome. All players can still hit, choosing the best drive from all five to play their second shots from. During the BBQ buffet style dinner and awards, the First Place Foursome will receive their ceramic CHAMPION cup along with bragging rights of being the BIG DOG. In addition, First, Second and Third place winners of the tournament will each win great PING® equipment. And the last place winners... well, they'll each get golf lessons from the FLCC golf-instructor Rob Lenkey. But watch out in 2014, the last place finishers might become the winners... "Rob is the best!" quotes event Chair Melody Saleh; "After just two lessons, I was hitting further, straighter and dropping strokes on my short game."
The tournament's other Chair, Cherie Marshall is quoted, "Maserati for a Weekend; golf for four at Frederica; Atlantis hotel stay, golf packages, memorabilia... the list goes on and on. The Live and Super Silent Auction are unbelievable." Honorary Chairs for this event are BIG 105.9's morning show team Paul and Young Ron, as well as the show's sports commentator Dave Lamont. Dave will be BIG's player representative in the tournament.
