The Fort Lauderdale Police Department will be conducting a traffic safetycheckpoint on Tuesday, March 20th, 2012, from the hours of 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., in the City of Fort Lauderdale.

The checkpoint will be located near the beach, in the 2700 to 2500 block of North Ocean Boulevard (North A1A). The traffic safety checkpoint will consist of a single lane closure for southbound traffic on North Ocean Boulevard (North A1A).

Vehicles will be randomly selected and officers will be conducting safety checks along with checking drivers' licenses, vehicle registrations and proof of insurance. The purpose of this traffic safety checkpoint is to increase public safety and awareness on the beach roadways during the Spring Break period.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department does not expect any serious traffic delays due to the traffic safety checkpoint.
