The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is initiating an action plan along the Sistrunk Corridor in the City of Fort Lauderdale. This action plan will be in effect for a 90-day time period.
The first phase of the plan began on August 13, 2012 and will conclude on September 11, 2012. The goal of this operation is to improve the quality of life along the Sistrunk Corridor and reduce part one crime through various policing techniques. These techniques include high visibility patrols of officers on foot, bicycles and vehicles, traffic enforcement, store and property checks, prostitution and drug enforcement, and other undercover operations.
This action plan is a department wide initiative that will address crime and traffic concerns of area residents and community leaders. It will not only impact the residents and businesses along of the Sistrunk Corridor, it will also provide a safe environment for daily commuters. As a result of several complaints received from area residents identifying quality of life issues, this action plan was developed with community leaders' input.
The plan will be evaluated by police command staff and community leaders on a monthly basis. We are confident that education and awareness will be the key factors to making our plan a success.
