FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- The Fort Lauderdale Police Department will be conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from the hours of 6:30 P.M. to 11:30 P.M., in the City of Fort Lauderdale. The traffic safety checkpoint will be held for traffic heading westbound between the 2400 block and 2900 block of Northwest 19th Street.

The checkpoint will consist of a single lane closure for westbound traffic on Northwest 19th Street.

Vehicles will be systematically selected and officers will be conducting safety checks along with checking drivers' licenses, vehicle registrations and proof of insurance.

The traffic safety checkpoint is being set up in response to numerous residents' complaints regarding speeding and miscellaneous traffic violations in the area.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department does not expect this checkpoint to cause any noticeable traffic delays.
