Broward County is home to great teachers, and every year the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce recognizes leaders in the field with an event honoring them. On May 23, 2013, at noon, a special luncheon at John Knox Village (651 SW 6 Street, Pompano Beach) celebrates the area teachers of the year selected by Broward Schools.

"This is one small way of showing our support and appreciation for the dynamic educators who inspire our young people," said Marianne Miccoli, event organizer. "The teachers receive a complimentary luncheon and an appreciation plaque and are honored in front of the community for their hard work."

This year's keynote speaker for the event is 2013 Broward County Principal of the Year, Principal Brian Kingsley from Gulfstream Middle School in Hallandale Beach. Kingsley was chosen as principal of the year due to his commitment to students and ability to work with the community. According to a Broward Schools nomination, "Brian Kingsley stands out as a champion who is passionate, innovative and effective."

"With 15 years of education experience, three as principal of Gulfstream Middle School, his commitment to his students and the community is outstanding," the release continues. "He understands the importance of integrating the school into the surrounding community and has quickly become a pillar in the Hallandale Beach community."

The chamber is also looking for sponsors for this annual event. It's a great way to show support for the local community and get your name in front of a large group of locals.
