LAUDERDALE, FL (February 29, 2012) – “From the mailroom to the corner office” is usually the story you see on the big screen, but not in the real world.  However, the ascent of Christopher Perez-Gurri on the law firm ladder at Hermelee & Geffin is an impressive journey of life imitating art.  In fact, Fort Lauderdale’s preeminent boutique law firm, Hermelee & Geffin, is pleased to announce the promotion of Christopher Perez-Gurri, who began his career working in the mailroom over ten years ago, to Partner.  
 
Hermelee & Geffin founding partners, Bruce G. Hermelee and Alan G. Geffin, always knew they saw something special in Chris when they hired him to work as a summer intern in their prior law firm, Brooks Hermelee & Geffin’s mailroom during the summer of 2000.  The internship soon became a part-time position, as Perez-Gurri was invited back to work for the attorneys of the firm during college breaks and vacations.  Rather than proceed directly to law school after graduating from the University of Michigan in 2002, Perez-Gurri chose to take a year off and work full time at Brooks Hermelee Geffin where he immersed himself in the law firm dynamic to gain valuable experience before going back to school.
 
In 2003, Perez-Gurri enrolled at the University of Miami School of Law and continued to work at Brooks Hermelee Geffin.  He graduated from law school in 2006, and upon passing the Florida Bar exam and being admitted in November 2006, he became a full-time Associate with Hermelee & Geffin.  After more than a decade of working in various capacities, including the last five years as a successful and highly-respected Associate, Hermelee & Geffin has named him a Partner.  Mr. Perez-Gurri’s practice is principally focused on construction disputes, complex litigation, contracts, probate litigation and family law.
