BankUnited announced a $7,500 grant to Lauderhill-based MetroBroward Economic Development Corporation in support of its Small Business Growth and Development Program, which provides training and business coaching to low-to-moderate-income small businesses in Broward County.
Metro Broward Economic Development Corporation is a Certified Community Development Financial Institution and Small Business Success Center. Since 1989, MetroBroward has served as a catalyst for the growth and expansion of small businesses in Broward County by providing mentoring services and growth capital, with the expectation of job creation and the establishment of a lending relationship with a conventional lender.
According to the latest available statistics, 80 percent of MetroBroward’s Small Business Growth and Development Program participants either expanded or started a small business, and 60 percent were able to hire an additional employee upon completion of the program.
BankUnited supports a wide range of programs and services that promote small business expansion, development and job creation through training, technical assistance, business incubation, micro-loans and/or revolving loan programs.
