A total of $308 million was awarded to local companies.  This year the push is on to increase the number of small businesses able to share in these opportunities.

On Thursday, August 20th, Commissioner Mark D. Bogen will host a "Learn How to Do Business with Broward County" seminar at E. Pat Larkins Community Center, 520 Martin Luther King Blvd in Pompano Beach from 7pm-9pm.

"Small business owners can make money doing business with Broward County. This seminar will explain what opportunities are available and how companies, particularly those in Pompano Beach, can take advantage of them," said Commissioner Bogen. "If you sell a commodity or service, you may find a market in Broward County government."

The Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development will teach participants how to qualify for county contracts, how to register as a vendor and what's involved in the small business certification process.  County experts will also be on hand to answer any questions.

The seminar is free, but seats are limited.  Food will be served. Reservations are recommended.  To RSVP call (954) 357-7002 or email MBogen@broward.org
