SUNRISE, Fla. – During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Doris Italian Market and Bakery locations throughout South Florida are going pink to raise funds for the American Cancer Society - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
In October, the famous Doris large homemade black and white cookies in the bakery will be decorated in pink and white icing to raise awareness of breast cancer. For each cookie sold during October, $1 will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
In addition, the Sunrise, Coral Springs and North Palm Beach locations will sell pink ribbon-shaped fudge for $4.99 with $1 donated to the American Cancer Society.
Doris Italian Market and Bakery has raised thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society over the years from cookie sales, participation in annual walks and Wine & Food Galas.
On Friday, October 21 from 8:15 to 10:15 p.m. Doris Italian Market in North Palm Beach will host a Wine & Food Gala to benefit American Cancer Society - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Open to the public, the Gala offers guests the opportunity to sample more than 100 wines from around the world, enjoy a buffet of authentic Italian cuisine and sample artisan cheeses. Tickets are $29.95. American Cancer Society – Making Strides Against Breast Cancer receives $10 from each ticket sold and each guest receives a $10 credit toward a wine purchase that evening.
“The American Cancer Society is an organization near and dear to us,” said John Alfano, president and CEO of Doris Italian Market & Bakery. “The pink and white cookies were so well received the past couple of years, we wanted to participate again and also try something new with the fudge sales. We believe it is important to support organizations in the communities where we live and work.”
