East and Eats RestaurantFT. LAUDERDALE, Dec. 15 -- If you’re on the go, and hungry, go east – to East End Eats.

The new “on the go café,” open only since July, already is booming, with a steady stream of customers who appreciate the good eats, drinks and efficient, friendly service.

The café, is decorated tastefully, with photos of vintage Fort Lauderdale, chandeliers, wainscoting and an delightful abundance of clocks throughout, even in the bathroom.

“People are on the go, and we wanted you to think of us at all hours, whenever you’re hungry,” said manager and chef Rick Flanigan.

EEE does a big catering business, and rents out the premises for special breakfast, lunch and dinner events. And, of course, you can just stop by and dine in in the pleasant, classic bistro surroundings.

East End Eats has a variety of breakfast fare, soups and salads, wraps, sandwiches, freshly baked breads, coffees, iced drinks, desserts and desserts. The restaurant’s “perpetual goal is to serve the highest quality cuisine with the finest customer service available.”

Particularly popular: Breakfast sandwiches, croissants, omelets and muffins in the morning; salads, wraps, and tomato-mozzarella sandwiches for lunch; fresh-baked cookies and pie any time; and recently, with longer hours most days, a changing list of evening specials.

Most items on the menu are well under $10, with a few dishes featuring lobster or shrimp topping the bill at $19.95.

We dropped in one recent drizzling afternoon and chose a bowl of hot roasted tomato basil soup. The soup was fresh, light but flavorful, and came with a dollop of pesto and a big, hot baguette suitable for every-last-drop dipping.

About that service: The kitchen, handling a big catering job, somehow thought it wasn’t prompt enough in delivering up the Jamaican beef pattie we also ordered.

We, still slurping our soup, hadn’t noticed any delay, but we got an extra pattie, no extra charge, anyway. Nice. The large patties (we had to wrap one of these boys to take home) featured delicious ground sirloin, flavored up with island spices, and embraced in a light, flaky crust. The avocado ranch sauce on the side is cooling and perfectly complementary.

Wherever you are, it may be time you headed east, to East End Eats.
