Outstanding Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) environmental stewards were celebrated at the second P3 Eco-Challenge Awards Ceremony held on May 14, 2014, at the Long Key Nature Center in Davie. All nominees live up to what P3 means – Preserving our Planet for Posterity – through their efforts to recycle, garden, create sustainable initiatives and volunteer in community outreach to preserve our planet's resources for now and the future.
The awards ceremony celebrated schools and individuals for their environmental accomplishments.Congratulations to the following award winners:
BCPS school awards included six categories and schools were eligible for the grand prize of $2,000 for competing in all categories.~ ~The overall school winner for the $2,000 prize was New River Middle School and the runner-up for the $1,000 prize was Lake Forest Elementary School.~ In the individual school categories, with a $500 prize, Peters Elementary School won in the School Grounds Enhancement category and Driftwood Middle School for School Sustainability.~ Other category winners were: Maplewood Elementary School for Curriculum Integration, Bright Horizons School for Community Involvement, Forest Hills Elementary School for Administrative Support and Welleby Elementary School for Innovation/Special Projects.~ All school nominees were presented with small cash prizes or in-kind contributions from the sponsors.~ A complete list of winners, prizes and nominees can be found at http://stem.browardschools.com/p3/p3-results/.
