BROWARD COUNTY – A dash of color will add up to big results for Broward County Schools during the Color Dash 5K Fun Run/ Walk on Easter Sunday, March 27 to benefit the Broward Education Foundation.
“At the Broward Education Foundation, we facilitate all donations that support Broward County schools,” said Thomas P. Severino, president/CEO of the Broward Education Foundation. “This is a fun, family-friendly activity and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon while at the same time raising funds that benefit the students, teachers and schools in Broward County.”
The Color Dash 5K kicks off with festivities at 2 p.m. and the Dash begins at 4 p.m. at the Westfield Broward Mall, 8000 W. Broward Blvd. in Plantation. The cost is $20 to enter the Color Dash, a family-friendly, untimed 5K, that has raised more than $1.5 million for local causes throughout the world.
“The funds we’ll raise provide support for innovative teaching to increase student learning outcomes from pre-K to grade 12; much needed supplies for low income students in classrooms; and scholarships for qualified graduating high school seniors,” said Severino.
Participants will receive a white tee shirt before the race and end up awash with color as they move through the color stations and new black shimmer color station along the 5K course around the mall. The color is powdered 100 percent non-toxic, food-grade cornstarch and coloring.
“We are looking at a fun Easter Sunday afternoon to benefit the students in our community,” said Andrew Martineau, Director, Marketing, Westfield Broward. “A DJ will provide the musical energy, a fitness guru will warm up participants and we’ll have a dance and costume contest with prizes awarded to the winners. We’re excited to bring this event to Broward County Schools.”
