POMPANO BEACH, FL – North Broward’s most decorated event is just around the corner with the 50th Annual Holiday Boat Parade sailing this Sunday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. Celebrate the area’s rich history as a nautical destination by being a part of this signature event in one of several ways: by captaining a boat in the parade, hosting a shore decorating party, watch along the Intracoastal or get VIP treatment in the lead boat with grand marshals Gwen & Richard Leys.
Presented by the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce, this year’s event is starting early to encourage more families to get involved. The parade is co-chaired by community leaders Dr. Brian Rask and Michele Greene and kicks off at Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach and ends at the Deerfield Beach/Boca Raton line.
“We look forward to making this year’s commemorative event really special,” said Greene. “We are involving the residential and business communities of Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point and Deerfield Beach! This will be a fun event for everyone.”
Entrance into the Holiday Boat Parade is free and boats small and large are encouraged to participate – it’s not too late!! Captains wishing to be in the parade need to register their vessels ahead of time for a free gas card and Lowe’s gift card to help decorate. Participants and sponsors will receive a gift bag from local businesses, including a commemorative ornament from renowned local artist Pat Anderson.
