POMPANO BEACH, FL – Thousands kicked off the holiday season during the 50th Annual Holiday Boat Parade. For the 2012 celebration, 53 boats jazzed up their boats for a glide down the Intracoastal Waterway through Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point and Hillsboro Beach to the Boca Raton Line. Residents in all four cities decorated along the shoreline and gathered to watch this year’s special 50th Anniversary of the boat parade chaired by Dr. Brian Rask and Michele Greene. This year’s Grand Marshals Gwen & Richard Leys led the boat parade on the “Musette,” this year’s lead boat.
“This was the best participation in the Pompano Beach Holiday Boat Parade in recent years. - we had 53 boats and we feel the date change along with it being the 50th Anniversary of the event brought out a lot of people,” said Chamber President Ric Green. “In addition to it being a Free Event for both participants and viewers, we also paid prize money in certain categories and gave all participants a $25 card for gas for the boat as well.“
