POMPANO BEACH, FL – Be a super hero for a cure and join Relay For Life of Pompano Beach for our Heroes Kickoff Party on October 24, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Everest University.
Every year, Relay For Life chapters hold overnight community events to raise money for the American Cancer Society. In 2013, the Pompano Beach Relay raised almost $50,000 to fight cancer. Next year’s event will be held April 12-13 at Pompano Community Park, but the planning committee is already hard at work.
This year’s chairs for the 2014 Relay For Life Pompano Beach are Pompano Beach commissioner Charlotte Burrie and community member Gwen Leys.
“As a health care provider I understand the importance that the support of a community can mean to both the caregiver and the cancer survivor,” said Leys. “Our Relay For Life event offers that connection between neighbors, friends and co-workers and an opportunity to both commemorate and celebrate the lives of those we have loved and care for.”
We are looking for volunteers for the Relay For Life, Team Captains, team members, sponsors and survivors who’d like to participate in our event in April. We’re inviting everyone who’s interested in helping to the Heroes Kickoff Party. Wear your best Halloween Hero costume and come be a superhero in the fight against cancer.
The Relay For Life Kickoff Party will be held at Everest University on the 8th Floor, 225 North Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, 33062. To get your team started, visit www.relayforlife.org/pompanobeachfl. Refreshments, raffles and fun at the event. Children welcome!
