DAVIE, FL – On November 4th and 5th, PAWS, the auxiliary group for the Humane Society of Broward County, celebrated the 15th anniversary of its well-known PAWS on the Green Ladies Invitational Golf Tournament, presented by AutoNation. Grande Oaks Golf Club in Davie has been the site of the fundraiser since its inception; this year they rolled out the red carpet in style!

Chairpersons Pamela Baynes, Marti Huizenga and Ursula Scott were delighted with the two-day, sold out event, which went off without a hitch, and are thrilled to report that the event raised over $151,000 for the animals. The PAWS on the Green Tournament, which was started by Marti Huizenga and Ursula Scott, has raised over $2,000,000 in the 15 years of the event.

Kicking off the two-day golfing extravaganza was a pre-tournament "Party Like a Rock Star" event at the home of Marti and Wayne Huizenga. Players who stayed at the tournament host hotel, the Riverside Hotel, arrived at the party via Water Taxi. The evening included great food, fabulous fun -- and "rock star" karaoke!

The two days of golf at Grande Oaks were mixed in with an amazing silent auction and live auction, hosted by celebrity auctioneer Wil Shriner, who encouraged bidders and helped to bring in more than $26,000. There was also live entertainment on Monday night from the Thunderhead Band; a chance to win a two-year lease on a Mercedes provided by AutoNation at two par three "Hole-in-One" chances; and players could purchase prize drawing tickets for the chance to win two single-row sterling silver handmade bracelets with beautiful blue Kyanite, donated by Pamela Huizenga Jewelry, valued at over $3,500.

Humane Society staff and volunteers manned the Critter Corral, a greet-and-cuddle area for furry friends looking for a family that was set up during the two-day event. Five lucky dogs found their forever homes!

While all of the ladies were there to help the animals, of course they take their golf seriously! Proud winning teams included, for Overall Low Net: Melody Saleh, Jan Joyce, Kaison Gottlieb and Tammy Tubandt; and for Overall Low Gross: Pat Case, Ann Fulginiti, Karen Hale and Meghan Stasi.
