FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – 2-1-1 Broward honored seven of its community partners at the Making REAL Connections Breakfast Presented by First Southern Bank on Wednesday, May 1st at the Signature Grand in Davie, Florida. Bob Birdsong, CEO of OK Generators; Children's Services Council of Broward County; City of Hallandale; Eye on South Florida; Robert Kornahrens, CEO of Advanced Roofing, Inc.; and The Salah Foundation, were honored in recognition of the tremendous support and connections that they provide to 2-1-1 Broward and for helping the non-profit organization fulfill its mission and meet its goals. The breakfast raised over $43,000 for 2-1-1 Broward.
"When I first became involved with this organization, 2-1-1 was the best kept local secret in Broward County. Now, thanks to the outstanding efforts of its board members and staff, and the success of the Non-Profit Academy Awards Luncheon, 2-1-1 Broward has become the gem of Broward County." said Jarett Levan, President of BBX Capital Corporation.
During the breakfast, Michael Wild, Esq., event co-chair, welcomed guests and introduced special guest host Kathleen Cannon, President & CEO of United Way of Broward County. Cannon thanked 2-1-1 Broward's partners for all of the hard work, dedication and support that they provide to the organization and spoke of the real live connections made as a result of 2-1-1 Broward. During the breakfast reception, Lynne Wines, President & CEO of First Southern Bank, encouraged attendees to get involved and support the efforts of 2-1-1 Broward, and Sheila Smith, CEO of 2-1-1 Broward, discussed the services 2-1-1 provides to the community on a daily basis. Just as 2-1-1 Broward facilitates the connection of people to health and human services, its partners and supporters offer the organization the opportunities to make these connections. While 2-1-1 Broward is a public utility, unlike 9-1-1 and 4-1-1, there is no designated tax as a source of funding. Wines, Smith, Wild and event co-chair Ronnie Oller presented the awards to the honorees.
Event sponsors and partners included First Southern Bank, OK Generators, Publix Super Markets, Signature Grand, Canon Solutions of America, Hoffman's Chocolate, Brenner Real Estate Group, City & Shore Magazine, Sun Sentinel, Kip Hunter Marketing, Envision Web Development and Eye on South Florida.
