Broward Virtual School Ambassadors of Hope Club has launched the new school year by joining the global celebration of “Be Kind to Humankind Week.”
“Be Kind to Humankind Week,” celebrated annually, August 25 – 31, is made up of seven special emphasis days: Motorist Consideration Monday, Touch-a-Heart Tuesday, Willing to Lend a Hand Wednesday, Thoughtful Thursday, Forgive Your Foe Friday, Speak Kind Words Saturday, and Sacrifice Our Wants for Others Needs Sunday.
“’Be Kind to Humankind Week’ is all about celebrating kindness in the world, with the belief that kindness can be contagious,” said Broward Virtual School Principal Christopher McGuire. “The weeklong celebration is a perfect way to get students thinking about how they can focus on kindness during the new school year.”
The celebration was created in August 1988, by Lorraine Jara in Toms River, New Jersey, to raise awareness and remind community members of the humanity of their neighbors and the importance of helping strangers in need. The event has become a celebration of people and the kind acts they perform all across the globe.
Broward Virtual School students, families and staff invite the community to join them in celebrating “Be Kind to Humankind Week,” and to share thoughts and pictures of acts of kindness on social media by using the hashtag #BK2HK.
