April is the perfect time to take a Guided House Tour of the Historic Stranahan House Museum. Tours take place daily throughout April at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Guests can learn about Fort Lauderdale’s founding through a visit to this enchanting, beautifully-preserved home. They will learn about the birth of Fort Lauderdale through the lives of two extraordinary people and the homestead they created, which to this day serves as an enduring legacy for historic preservation. On Sunday, April 5 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m., sweet jazz melodies will float along the Riverwalk during the JM Lexus Sunday Jazz Brunch. The Sunday Jazz Brunch offers a free day of concerts, unique vendors and local delicacies along the stunning New River. Everyone is invited to celebrate the culture, including well-behaved, leashed pets. Guests can bring chairs, blankets and picnic baskets to enjoy a full day along the New River. At the Thursday, April 16, 6–8 p.m. Book Signing with author Keith Mitzner, author-in-residence at the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, attendees can purchase a copy of Mitzner’s book, “Tom Bryan and Other Movers and Shapers of Early Fort Lauderdale,” and have it signed. In the book, Mitzner, details the origins, history, and qualities of Broward County beginning with its key player, Tom Bryan. Proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Historical Society. Wine and food lovers will enjoy NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale’s Art of Wine & Food Series evening, “The Rain in Spain,” on Thursday, April 16 from 6–8 p.m. The evening will focus on Spanish wines from Marques de Riscal, pairing them with light bites to complement the Spanish flavors, presented by Jose Luis Muguiro. $40 per person; $25 for members Patron level and above.
