FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A wonderland of joy and laughter was created during the sixth annual “A Prom to Remember,” a prom for South Florida teens battling cancer. Hundreds of kids attended the Alice in Wonderland themed event at The Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale on Friday, May 15th and enjoyed dinner, dancing, entertainment and fun photo opportunities. Everything is provided to the teens to make it a night to remember, free of charge, including formalwear, salon services and limousine transportation.
“It takes many dedicated volunteers and community partners and sponsors to make this memorable evening possible,” said Brandon Opre, founder and president of the Unforgettable Prom Foundation. “It was indeed another year of bringing the ultimate prom experience to teens with cancer in South Florida and as we look forward to the planning of our 2016 prom, I encourage members of the community to join one of the many task forces to help us with fundraising and planning.”
More than 200 teens attended this year’s event who receive treatment from area hospitals in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County, including Chris Evert Children’s Hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Miami Children’s Hospital, Baptist Children’s Hospital, Palms West Hospital, St. Mary’s Medical Center and Alex’s Place at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
