Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is home to many of the best high schools in the nation and state, according to recent rankings by U.S. News & World Report. In all, 14 BCPS high schools received gold, silver or gold medals in the 2015 Best High Schools national ranking.
BCPS national gold medal recipients are Cypress Bay High School, Pompano Beach High School and Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The nine high schools receiving national silver medals are Nova High School, Fort Lauderdale High School, West Broward High School, Western High School, Cooper City High School, McFatter Technical High School, J.P. Taravella High School, Flanagan High School and Atlantic Technical High School. In addition, Broward Virtual School and Dillard High School received a bronze medal national ranking. The U.S. News & World Report rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.
