Broward County Animal Care

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- Broward County Animal Care in partnership with BECON-TV (Broward Education Communications Network) is launching new episodes of its innovative television series, Take Paws.  The first episode premiers on Saturday, December 7 th at 7 p.m. and repeats at 7:00 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday night on the WBEC the BECON-TV network.

The Take Paws program is part of Animal Careís effort to educate viewers about the importance of pet adoption as well as various aspects of pet care, including responsible pet ownership.  The first of the four new episodes are sponsored in part by a Community Foundation of Broward grant and this week's episode will include segments on the following topics:
  • Dealing with Inappropriate Elimination in Cats with Meg Formoso, DVM
  • Choosing a New Pet with Dawn Hanna, CPDT-KA
  • Canine Therapy Team with Judy Eason and Coral
Adoptable pets from Broward County Animal Care and Adoption will be featured between segments that air on WBEC-63 BECON-TV and each of the segments will be available via YouTube. The program will also feature tips on pet behavior, which is the primary reason given for surrendering a family pet. The Take Paws program is available for viewing through the Broward County public school system and broadcast on Comcast Cable channel 19, DirecTV, Dish Network and AT&T U-verse on channel 63 in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach Counties to over 5.5 million viewers.  “We are very excited to partner with BECON in order to educate viewers regarding important and helpful information about dogs and cats, including our adoptable pets” said Lisa Mendheim, public education coordinator, Broward County Animal Care and Adoption.”

“We're very proud of the new show we've created in cooperation with Broward County Animal Care and Adoption.  The expertise of local vets and trainers appearing in Take Paws will help pet owners provide a healthy, happy future for their pets.  Most of all, we hope the shelter segments in each show will lead to more lives being saved through new adoptions” said Mike Moscatello, executive producer of Take Paws.”

Broward County Animal Care and Adoption is dedicated to providing shelter for lost and surrendered animals as well as the successful adoption of pets. The agency also coordinates the licensing of dogs and cats and provides rabies vaccinations in order to encourage a healthier pet population.

The mission of the Community Foundation of Broward is to provide leadership on community solutions, and foster philanthropy that connects people who care with causes that matter. The Helen and Frank Stoykov Charitable Endowment Fund, the Helen Victoria Foote Fund, and the Patricia A. Shub Fund for Companion Animal Benefit provided funding for the Take Paws episodes.
