Winter in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale also goes by the name of Little Venice because of the many canals that 'run' across the city. But, unlike real Venice that is full of snow and wind during the winter months, Fort Lauderdale's winters are full of sun. This city in Florida has a tropical climate all year round. So, if you plan on moving or traveling to Fort Lauderdale this winter, boredom is out of the question as there are plenty of things to do here. And we are here to share a few suggestions with you. All you have to do is pack your bags, put on a lot of sunscreen, and stay hydrated. Without further ado, here is what winter in Fort Lauderdale looks like, and what you can do here is you want to have fun and relax.

1.   Visit the Beach

Just like we previously mentioned, Fort Lauderdale has a tropical climate and pleasant weather all year round. That means that you can visit the beach whenever you want. And, when we say visit it, we mean go swimming, sunbathing, surfing, diving, practicing beach yoga and meditation, etc. Or you can do what the locals love doing most - lying on the beach and doing absolutely nothing! Maybe that is the secret to their health and happiness. Who knows - give it a go the next time you visit Fort Lauderdale in winter because the temperature here never falls below 40'F. We advise going to Fort Lauderdale Beach Park, Las Olas Beach, North Beach, or the Bahia Mar Resort beach. All of them have picture-perfect white sand and crystal-clear water. What is more, they are filled with playgrounds, volleyball and basketball courts, boat ramps, and almost all beach amenities you can imagine.

2.   Go Fishing and Boating

Did you know that Fort Lauderdale is one of the few places in the world where you can fish both freshwater and saltwater fish at the same time? Well, not exactly at the same time, but these two are just 15 minutes apart (by foot). Many fishing experts here can give you fishing lessons, take you to some of the best fishing spots, or provide you with some of the best equipment in the world. Believe it or not, these are the reasons many people decide to move to Fort Lauderdale. So, if you are considering doing the same, you are not the only one. Just be sure to hire a good real estate agent and a good long-distance moving company in Florida that can get you and your belongings to the destination

If you are not a fan of fishing but still want to check out the waters, you'll be happy to learn there are many opportunities to do so. There are a plethora of boat tours in winter in Fort Lauderdale. You can book an individual tour or a group one, go during the day or night, choose to see the dolphins, or even alligators, etc. The options are endless!

3.   Check Out Some of the Museums

When you get tired of all the sea and sun (if that is even possible), you can hide in the shade of some of Florida's most interesting museums and historic sites. For instance, we advise starting with the Art Museum, which is known for its collection of contemporary art celebrating women, Latin America, Africa, Black and Latinx artists, etc. Then, go to the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens, where you can see and learn all about Fort Lauderdale's ecosystem. And, finally, finish your museum tour with the famous Stranahan House Museum. Aside from being the home of the Stranahans, the museum was also a post office, trading post, town hall, school, and community center. This year, you can even book a Christmas tour at the historic Stranahan house

4.   Eat, Drink, and Shop!

If you are a foodie, there is not a better place to visit than Las Olas. It is said that Las Olas, a small neighborhood, is the beating heart of Fort Lauderdale. This is the liveliest part of the city and definitely, a place to try some of the best dishes and old-school cocktails. Make sure not to miss it, especially if you want to take a break from all the shopping. Yes, shop till you drop but, be careful as the price tags here can make you feel dizzy.

Moreover, Las Olas is a great place if you are interested in real estate. Here, you can find some of the most luxurious properties in the world. From penthouse apartments to huge villas - Las Olas has it all. Who knows, you might even fall in love with a home here. If you do, be sure to hire professional movers such as ccmover.com, who can relocate you here in no time.

5.   Spend a Day in Nature

Spending a day in nature is one of the best things to do this winter in Fort Lauderdale. The Hugh Taylor Beach State Park is always a good option if you don't know where to start. There, you can walk, hike, ride a bike, organize a picking or barbecue with friends and family, rent a canoe or kayak, or try bird-watching. Moreover, if you are visiting Fort Lauderdale with your children this winter, be sure to take them to the Flamingo Gardens. This is a combination of a botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary. You can sign your little ones up for young explorer programs while you explore some of the most exotic plants in the world or have a close encounter with an alligator or panther.
