FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- The United States has more than seven million private, employee-based companies, so being one of the 5,000 fastest growing is quite a feat. Despite the long odds, and difficulties associated with the toughest economy in recent memory, one Fort Lauderdale-based company has made it an annual event.
United National Consumer Suppliers (UNCS), a wholesale distributor that specializes in supplying retailers discounted excess inventory and overstock from product manufacturers, has made the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing, privately-held companies each year since 2010. The firm (www.uncs.com) has increased revenues more than 150% over the last five years and comes in at #2018 in this year’s rankings, according to the magazine.
Joining UNCS on the Inc. list were companies such as Facebook, Levi Strauss, CDW, and Publix Supermarkets.
“We’ve created new relationships that have fueled growth and added a fulfillment aspect that impacts the top line,” said UNCS President & CEO Brett Rose. “What started as a business-to-business sales model now also reaches as many as a million consumers a day through strategic business-to-consumer relationships. Our workforce is triple what it was five years ago and I’m confident we’ll keep growing in 2013.”
Rose says the company, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, originally created its niche by focusing on the specific needs of the retail customer and understanding market challenges. This knowledge enabled them to source and deliver product at the right price, at the right time, and with the delivery specifications requested by clients. Walgreens, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Winn-Dixie, Groupon, and Toys “R” Us are just a few of the retail outlets that sell products secured by UNCS.
“We’re projecting $20 million in earnings this year,” said Rose.
