FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- The Humane Society of Broward County is thrilled to host its third annual Big Dog Men’s Invitational Golf Tournament on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Chairs Melody and Ali Saleh and Cherie and John Marshall promise this will be the biggest and best ever using both the north and south courses, and we expect close to 200 golfers to participate. A shamble format will keep the game challenging and if you hit that wayward shot, your “Muttigan – Giving Pets a Second Shot,” gives you a do-over. Special prizes will be awarded to the Overall team winners on each course as well as the winners’ names engraved on the perpetual Big Dog Champions Cup that rests in the Champions Room at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Awards will also be given to the second and third place winners on each course. To add to the day’s fun we’ve added Pet Poker to the course. All Par-3 holes will offer a chance to purchase playing cards to assemble the winning hand for 50% of the Pet Poker Pot. If you’re feeling especially lucky, you might be a “Hole-in-One” winner like Ken Larsen in 2013. All Par-3 holes will have a great prize for the player who hits that amazing shot.
Golfers, and those who can’t attend, have the opportunity to purchase a prize drawing ticket (only 300 will be sold) for the chance to win your choice of two incredible prizes. Select the “Pebble Beach Golf Experience” which includes a round of golf on Pebble Beach Golf Links, The Links at Spanish Bay & Spyglass Hill Golf Course, cart rental, car rental, and a 5 night stay for two at The Lodge (Pebble Beach, CA) OR attend the Master Golf Tournament Finals Rounds (Sat/Sun). Prize includes entrance badges to the 2016 Masters (Augusta, GA) and a weekend stay in a private home for two. (Restrictions apply).
Golfers will enjoy a delicious grill lunch generously donated by Bimini Boatyard. A few yummy surprises will await the golfers as they compete during the afternoon followed by a full buffet gourmet dinner. If the food alone doesn’t wet your appetite, maybe the “Best in Show” contest during the tournament will. Bimini Boatyard, Blue Martini, Grille 401 and Oceans 234 are just a few of the participants hoping you’ll pick their speciality drink as the winner. A Silent Auction and special 2-part putting contest await the golfers after the tournament. During the cocktail hour, golfers can peruse the auction which includes a hand-painted golf bag by Guy Harvey, an original poster of “Duffy MacTaggart” Scotland’s greatest golfer by Herb Moore from Animation Soup, a limited edition bottle of the “Promise of Hope” from the Parker’s Heritage Collection, TaylorMade clubs and much, much more. All golfers will also have the opportunity to participate in the putting contest for great prizes.
The tournament is by invitation only and is expected to sell-out quickly. Cost is $300 for an individual or $1,200 for a foursome. For more information about playing in the tournament, purchasing a prize drawing ticket and sponsorship opportunities please call Leana at 954-266-6818.
