WILTON MANORS, FL -- Thanks to Community Development Block Grants and the Broward County Tree Trust Fund, the Island City Park Preserve in Wilton Manors has been expanded. The construction project was completed by MBR Construction in June 2014.
On Tuesday, July 29 at 6:15 p.m., city officials will host a ribbon cutting at Island City Park Preserve (823 NE 28 Street, Wilton Manors, Florida), to celebrate the expansion of the park. Members of the public and the media are invited to attend.
Originally 3.15 acres, the park was expanded to 3.42 acres with the addition of a nearby parcel – located between two residential buildings – that includes 14 parking spaces, a trail, a passive recreation area, estate-style fencing, landscaping and irrigation improvements.
"The expansion will help Island City Park Preserve with overflow parking, but it also creates a nice area for residents and visitors to stroll through, read a book and just relax," said Patrick Cann, Director of Wilton Manors Leisure Services. Cann added that the additional parking spaces will help with parking during special events such as Stonewall Street Festival and the city's summer youth programs.
The City of Wilton Manors operates a total of fifteen parks, a library and City waterways that offer numerous amenities for children and adults of all ages. To connect with the City of Wilton Manors Leisure Services Department visit www.wiltonmanors.com/park or call (954) 390-2130.
