Stranahan House Pineapple Jam honorees & sponsors

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – More than 300 guests are expected to trade in their black-tie attire for “tropical chic” and attend the annual Pineapple Jam, presented by Tripp Scott on Saturday, May 7 at The Main Las Olas, 201 E. Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale benefiting the Historic Stranahan House Museum’s educational and historic preservation programs.

The party gets started at 6 p.m. with cocktails, live musical entertainment and Floribbean cuisine. Guests also can bid on exclusive silent auction items and experiences.

“We are so thrilled to bring back Pineapple Jam, a party that allows us to preserve the local history for the future,” said Christina Yates, Stranahan House board president. “We are also excited to honor both April Kirk and the Las Olas Company who have been so supportive of all we do.”

Kirk, who until recently served as Stranahan House executive director, is the Pioneer Honoree and will be recognized for her decade-long leadership of Stranahan House.

“April has shown an immeasurable amount of dedication, passion and leadership to preserving the history of Stranahan House and Fort Lauderdale and creating innovative programming and events,” said Pineapple Jam Co-Chair and Stranahan House Board Member Maggie Gunther of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance. “April represents the true spirit of Stranahan House, and we will miss her dearly as she embarks on her new journey.”

The Corporate Pioneer Honoree distinction will be bestowed upon leading Fort Lauderdale commercial real estate and hospitality company, the Las Olas Company, represented by President Michael Weymouth.

“The Las Olas Company, in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, supports business development that attracts residents and visitors,” said Pineapple Jam Co-Chair Whitney Dutton of the Dutton Group at Remax First. “The Las Olas Company has had an incredible economic impact on our city while also embodying all that it means to be a good corporate citizen. The company, and Mike in particular, are great stewards of our community.”

All proceeds from Pineapple Jam support the historic preservation and education programs of the Historic Stranahan House Museum, the oldest house in Fort Lauderdale and the epicenter of Broward County’s long and fascinating history. Built in 1901, Stranahan House is recognized as the birthplace of Fort Lauderdale and was home to the area’s first businessman, Frank Stranahan, and the first schoolteacher, Ivy Cromartie Stranahan. The House opened as a museum in 1984.
