FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – With summer in full swing and fall just around the corner, the Historic Stranahan House Museum is sharing the following updates:

Tours: Guests of all ages will enjoy guided tours of Stranahan House throughout the summer and fall, led by knowledgeable, educated and engaging docents as they share the story of the house, the founding family and the City of Fort Lauderdale. Tours last 45 to 60 minutes and begin daily at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $11 for seniors 60 and older, $7 for students and members are free.

Executive Director Search: The search for the executive director position at Stranahan House is underway. The executive director oversees all operations and is accountable for all areas of museum management, including designing, developing and implementing strategic plans as well as fundraising, governance and branding. History Happy Hour: This educational program for the community features guest speakers and explores topics relating to the Stranahan family, the history of Fort Lauderdale and South Florida, the Seminole Indians and more. Visit stranahanhouse.org for more information.

Annual Meeting: Stranahan House members will be invited to the Annual Meeting in September. Date and time will be posted to the website.

Membership and events: All proceeds from Stranahan House memberships and special events support the ongoing historic preservation of this local landmark and help fund the museum’s educational programs. Memberships start at $50 annually and a 1901 Circle Lifetime membership for $1,901 celebrates the year the house was built by Frank Stranahan. Visit stranahanhouse.org/membership.

Each year, more than 3,000 fourth-grade students and 30,000 tourists and locals visit Stranahan House, making it one of the top cultural attractions in Fort Lauderdale.

The Historic Stranahan House Museum, the oldest house in Fort Lauderdale and the epicenter of Broward County’s long and fascinating history. Built in 1901, Stranahan House is recognized as the birthplace of Fort Lauderdale and was home to the area’s first businessman, Frank Stranahan, and the first schoolteacher, Ivy Cromartie Stranahan. The House opened as a museum in 1984.
