PALM BEACH COUNTY – ChildNet, the community-based care lead agency in Broward and Palm Beach counties, has been selected to receive a $30,000 grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) to support its SafePlace Intake and Placement Center, opening soon.
ChildNet’s SafePlace facility in Palm Beach County will provide a place for children upon removal from their homes due to abuse, abandonment and neglect. Funding from RMHC’s South Florida chapter will support a playground attached to SafePlace that will give children an opportunity to play in a child-friendly environment while an appropriate placement is identified.
“Every month in Palm Beach County, 80 to 100 children are removed from their homes,” said Emilio Benitez, president and CEO of ChildNet. “SafePlace will make a real difference in our ability to care for the most vulnerable children in our community during a difficult time in their young lives. Thanks to the support from Ronald McDonald House Charities, kids in the child welfare system will have a chance to feel like just another kid, enjoying fun-filled activities while receiving nurturing care during their stay.”
With 58 countries and regions across the globe, RMHC chapters tailor their programs to meet the urgent needs of each community to make children happier and healthier by keeping families together and giving them a place that feels like home.
“ChildNet continues to dedicate themselves to providing unconditional support toward improving the safety and stability of our children in South Florida,” said Soraya-Rivera Moya, executive director of Ronald McDonald House. “We are happy to support this non-profit in our community that provides a brighter future for our children.”
As the single private non-profit entity responsible for administration of the local child welfare system, ChildNet brings years of dedication to protecting abused, abandoned and neglected children in the communities it serves.
