FORT LAUDERDALE – The curtain rises at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts this November with the much-anticipated opening of its all-new Intermezzo Lounge, which offers the perfect night on the town without ever leaving the theater with drinks, appetizers and desserts for one low price. An exciting lineup of sensational shows awaits audiences and features the nine-time Tony® Award-winning Broadway blockbuster The Book of Mormon, Grammy®-nominated pianist Jim Brickman, the world-renowned Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and a fresh season of Laffing Matterz.
 
The Broward Center’s all-new Intermezzo Lounge makes a spectacular grand opening in November with tickets on sale for performances of The Book of Mormon. The Intermezzo Lounge, conveniently located on the upper-orchestra level of the Au-Rene Theater, offers an enhanced theater experience that includes complimentary drinks, appetizers and desserts one hour before the performance and during intermission. With an airy and inviting atmosphere, the Intermezzo Lounge has a comfortable indoor bar area with ample seating, a wall of sliding glass doors that open to the Peck Courtyard and a spacious veranda. Intermezzo Lounge tickets are sold separately from theater tickets for $30 and are available through the Broward Center’s AutoNation box office for all evening performances and weekend matinees in the Au-Rene Theater beginning on November 26.
 
Florida Grand Opera presents Mourning Becomes Electra on Thursday, November 7 and Saturday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Au-Rene Theater. Based on the play trilogy by Eugene O’Neill, this mythic tale is set in Massachusetts shortly after the Civil War. Beneath the veneer of the prim and proper Mannon family are seething passions of bitterness, infidelity, incest and even murder. The magnificently powerful music is written by Fort Lauderdale resident Marvin David Levy. Complimentary pre-show lectures and post-show discussions are held with every performance. Individual tickets are $21, $46, $60, $79, $89, $125 and $200 with Club Level tickets available for $139. For groups of 10 or more, tickets are $19, $41, $54, $71, $80, $113 and $180 with Club Level tickets available for $131.
 
The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Peter Glenn Ski & Sports present the newest installment of Warren Miller’s legendary film series with Ticket to Ride on Friday, November 8 at 8:30 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater. Taking ski and snowboard fans on an action-packed ride to the world’s most exotic destinations, this film showcases world-class athletes, such as Sean Pettit, Ted Ligety, Seth Wescott and Jess McMillian. Filmgoers can enjoy pre-show lobby activities from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will have an opportunity to meet big mountain skier Keely Kelleher, Descente athlete and former United States Olympic Ski Team member who is featured in the film. Individual tickets are $12, $10 for students and $11 for groups of 10 or more.
 
The South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble presents All’s Fair in Love & War on Saturday, November 9 at 7 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater. This dynamic performance explores the music of man’s two greatest passions: war and love. Special guest soloists, dancers and visual effects make this concert one of a kind. Tickets are $25 and $10 for students with subscription packages available.
 
Symphony of the Americas presents Romanze on Tuesday, November 12 at 8:15 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater as part of the 2013–2014 concert season. This production of Mozart’s legendary composition features award-winning pianist Alexander Kobrin, who has performed with internationally renowned ensembles, including the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra and the English Chamber Orchestra. Tickets are $50, $60 and $75 with group discounts available.
 
Gold Coast Jazz Society presents a swingin’ musical tribute to celebrated drummer and band leader Buddy Rich as the Frank Derrick Big Band takes the stage on Wednesday, November 13 at 7:45 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater. Derrick is a renowned performer, composer and educator whose credits include performances with Della Reese, Freda Payne, Eubie Blake, The Buke Ellington Orchestra and Ken Peplowski. Individual tickets are $40, $36 for groups of 10 or more and $10 for students and teachers.
 
Bestselling solo pianist Jim Brickman brings his signature sound and hit songs to life in The Love Tour for one of the most romantic concerts of the year on Thursday, November 14 at 7 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater. Best known for his chart-toppers “Valentine,” “The Gift,” “Love of My Life,” “Simple Things” and “Peace,” Brickman has revolutionized the sound of solo piano with his pop-style instrumentals and star-studded vocalizations. Receiving international acclaim as a concert performer, the Grammy-nominated artist "evokes warm sentiments that seem to ask the listener to reach out and touch someone," according toBillboard magazine. Tickets are $49 and $44 for groups of 10 or more.

Named Best Dinner Theatre by Gold Coast Magazine and The New Times, and a recipient of the 2013 Certificate of Excellence Award from Trip Advisor, Laffing Matterz kicks off another hilarious season with a special preview performance on Thursday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Abdo New River Room. Combining the best of dinner theater with the hilarity of topical satire, Laffing Matterz: With a Vengeance plucks topics from today’s headlines and lampoons everything from celebrity misfortune and pop culture to the latest political scandals in original and creative musical comedy skits. Throughout the season, performances take place on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.  and selected Sundays at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $69 and include the show and a sumptuous dinner with house salad, a choice of entrée and warm sourdough bread.  Appetizers, desserts and alcoholic beverages are billed separately. Specially priced $39 tickets are available for the opening weekend Thursday, November 14 through Saturday, November 16.
 
Audiences will embark on an exciting journey through the history of tango when Tango Fire takes the stage on Friday, November 15 at 8:30 p.m. in the Au-Rene Theater. The sensational performance traces the roots of tango from the barrios of Buenos Aires through its growing popularity as a contemporary dance form. This internationally renowned and innovative production features world tango champions and is set against the musical backdrop of Astor Piazzolla, Mores, Gardel, Rodriguez and other tango masters. Tickets are $35, $45, $55, $65 and $75 with Club Level tickets available for $115.
 
The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will perform masterworks of the orchestral repertoire on Saturday, November 16 at 8 p.m. in the Au-Rene Theater. Led by acclaimed conductor Anu Tali, this beautiful program takes audiences on a musical tour through Russia, Europe and Estonia with compositions from the region’s most influential composers. The concert also features a performance by celebrated cellist Narek Hakhnazaeyan, who the Washington Post calls “a certified phenom.”  One hour prior to the performance, music historian and food and wine expert Lyn Farmer hosts “Engaging the Senses,” a complimentary exploration of the evening’s concert repertoire coupled with a wine tasting.  Tickets are $35, $45, $55, $65 and $75 for individuals with Club Level tickets available for $115; $31.50, $40.50, $49.50, $58.50 and $67.50 for groups of 10 or more; and $17.50, $22.50, $27.50, $32.50 and $37.50 for students.
 
The South Florida Symphony Orchestra presents A Soul Unfettered on Monday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater. This special evening of classical music features music by Elgar, Barber and Schubert and a performance by Clancy Newman, winner of the prestigious Walter W. Naumburg Competition. Tickets are $35, $50, $65 and $75.
 
The Fort Lauderdale Speaker Series presented by Broward College features Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. on Wednesday, November 20 at 8 p.m. in the Au-Rene Theater. Named as one of Time magazine’s “Heroes of the Planet,” Kennedy has devoted himself to protecting the environment and spearheading the Riverkeeper movement. He will take the stage just days before the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy’s tragic trip to Dallas. Tickets are sold by subscription to the series, which includes Bob Woodward, Jeannette Wells, Michael Beschloss, Soledad O’Brien and Jean-Michel Cousteau. Three and five-show subscriptions start at $165 for individuals and $115.32 for groups of 10 or more.

GNC Live Well presents the 2013 Bodybuilding.com NPC National Bodybuilding Championships Friday, November 22 through Saturday, November 23 in the Au-Rene Theater. Competing for an opportunity to qualify for the Worldwide IFBB Pro Grand Prix circuit, 1,000 contestants will be judged in various divisions, including men’s and women’s bodybuilding, women’s bikini, women’s figure, and men’s and women’s physique. Preliminaries will be held on Friday, November 22 at 1 p.m. and Saturday, November 23 at 9 a.m. Finalists and overall winners for each category will be announced during the finals presentation on Saturday, November 23 at 5 p.m. Tickets for the preliminaries are $50. Tickets for the finals are $75 and $125.
 
Brazilian Voices presents Joy of Brazil on Friday, November 22 at 8:30 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater. The show takes audiences through energetic rhythms of Brazilian bossa nova, samba, pop, forro and a combination of beats of “batucada” with original interpretations and arrangements of Marisa Monte, Djavan, Luiz Gonzaga, Jorge Benjor and Vinicius de Moraes. Tickets are $30 and $35 and $27 and $31.50 for groups of 10 or more.
 
Celebrating its 25th season of South Florida ballet, Fort Lauderdale Children’s Ballet Theatre presents Sleeping Beauty on Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24 at 1 and 6 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater. Depicting the timeless fairy tale of Princess Aurora’s awakening upon receiving the kiss of her true love, the enchanting performance features talented dancers, gorgeous costumes and captivating scenery. Tickets are $25.
